Working in a call center isn’t just a job — it’s a lifestyle, especially when you’re a dad. Between the shifting schedules, the constant calls, and trying to stay awake for family time, it’s safe to say we live a different kind of life.
If you’re a call center dad like me, you’ll definitely relate to these five things:
1. Sleep Is a Luxury, Not a Right
Forget 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep — that’s a fantasy.
We’re masters of the “power nap,” catching zzz’s whenever and wherever we can: in the car, during a lunch break, even while waiting for the kids to finish their homework.
Our motto? “Sleep when you can, survive when you must.”
2. You’re a Ghost During Normal Family Events
Family lunch at lola’s on Sunday?
Kids’ awarding ceremony at 10AM?
Neighborhood basketball league finals?
If it happens during your shift or post-shift zombie hours, chances are you’re either:
- Half-asleep,
- Totally asleep,
- Or still wearing your headset in your dreams.
It sucks sometimes, but hey, providing for the family comes first.
3. Coffee Is Your Blood Type
While normal dads sip coffee to “start their day,” we drink coffee at midnight just to make it to 2AM.
Second coffee at 3AM, third coffee at 5AM — you know the drill.
At this point, our bloodstream is probably 50% caffeine and 50% pure willpower.
4. Your Kids Think You Have Superpowers
Even if we’re tired, grumpy, or running on two hours of sleep, our kids still think we’re superheroes.
“Wow, Daddy’s still playing with me after work!”
“Wow, Daddy’s still smiling even if he just came home!”
(Meanwhile, internally: ‘Wag ka lang magpabuhat, anak, baka ako pa mabuhat mo.’)
Their smiles are enough to recharge us better than any energy drink.
5. You’re the Master of ‘Making Time’
Call center dads know one thing for sure: time with family is sacred.
Whether it’s a simple breakfast date after a night shift or a full-blown weekend outing, we know how to carve out moments that matter.
Because no matter how busy or tired we get, at the end of the day (or night), everything we do is for them.
Final Thoughts:
Being a call center dad isn’t easy — but it’s definitely worth it.
The night shifts, the sacrifices, the sleepy mornings — all of it is part of the journey.
And knowing we’re giving our families a better future?
That’s the best feeling in the world.
To all my fellow night shift warriors out there: Respect!
Keep grinding, keep loving, and keep being the superheroes your kids already believe you are.
