Day four of our Taiwan adventure and were off to Taichung city. It is almost a two hour drive from Taoyuan city where we were staying. But we took the High speed train that cut the travel time to just 44 minutes, how cool was that. How I wish there was a high speed train in the Philippines it will definitely benefit a lot of people.
My sister in law found a taxi driver that also serve as a tourist guide on line through Facebook that will drive us to different tourist spot around Taichung.
Our first stop is the Rainbow village. It is a small group of houses in a park that are decorated with lots of drawings that are colorful. There are no people occupying the houses it is just made for tourist to visit and take pictures.
Because of the colorful houses there are lots picture perfect spots to choose from. Just find the right angle for you and take a selfie, there you have it an instagramable picture.
Second stop is a glass bridge on top of a man made creek. Our tour guide said it has lots of lighting at night that changes color to enhance the beauty of the bridge. I admire the Taiwanese people for making something interesting like this bridge on top of something that when you think about it is just a man made creek to control flooding.
Third stop is the summit castle resort. It is a medieval style castle on top of a hill that is beautiful. There are a lot of cherry blossom trees around the area but sadly they are not in full bloom. Our tour guide said it depends upon the weather, this year was to hot for the cherry blossom trees to reached full bloom.
This place is frequented by a lot of couples planning to get married. Because the place is perfect for their prenuptial pictures, it is rustic with lots of greenery around not to mention the man made lake at the center and the abundance of flowers around the area.
We took some pictures around the area. I almost forgot to mention that there is a entrance fee to go inside this place. It is not cheap but comes with a free beverage of your choice to be collected at the cafeteria located somewhere inside the place.
Like in Green green grassland there are vending machine more like gumball machines that you find around the lake area. But instead of gum it produces fish food. The children were happy to feed the fish and several ducks that roam the lake area.
While going around Taichung our driver took us to a popular eatery were we can take our lunch. Just besides the eatery there was this local milk tea shop were we both for me was the best milk tea I ever tasted in Taiwan.
We said goodbye to our friendly drive/ tour-guide at the train station were he drop us off. Then again we took the high speed train going back to Taoyuan city. All train stations have machines were you can purchase single journey token or load your train pass. But for the High speed train you need to purchase a ticket at the counter. The ticket contains the departure and arrival time and your seat number. You can choose your seat number but you need to tell the person at the ticket counter or else they will just assigned it for you.
