Summer is here and all of us are feeling the heat it brings, we can expect for it to get hotter and hotter. What is also frequent nowadays are out of town trips with the family, special someone, or friends. Aside of preparing the itinerary including the place you will be going and also the things you will bring, you also need to prepare your car. Having your car checked by your trusted mechanic not only ensures you a safe journey but will also give you peace of mind, leaving you to concentrate on having fun.
One of the things I did to prepare our car is to have the air conditioning system cleaned. Our car is almost 8 years old and this is the first time we are having the air condition cleaned. What prompted us to have it cleaned is because we have noticed a slow decline on the strength and coldness of the air that comes out of the blowers from the front vents and especially the vents at the back.
If you’re having your car’s air conditioning system cleaned, it is always advisable to have it done with your trusted dealer specially if it is still has warranty. Having it cleaned outside of your dealer will expose you to all sorts of scammers out there. You don’t want the hassle of finding a reliable and trusted mechanic. If you have money to spare, it is always better to bring your car to your dealer.
I brought our car to a mechanic near our place. I did a surveillance of the place months before and I know they have been in business for a long time so I took my chances.
Our car was a Toyota MVP and had two evaporators one in front the main one and one at the back. The front panel or the entire dashboard had to be removed before the mechanic could reached the evaporator and removed it for cleaning. It is much more easier removing the evaporator at the back. I was surprise on how many screws it take to hold the front panel. I was praying that the mechanic could remember each screw and don’t miss any. When both of the evaporators were removed I I took a look at both of them and thank God neither one of them had any problem.
The mechanic placed both of the evaporator on top of a cleaning table and started working on each of them. cleaning was the easy part I guess, because it only took them less than an hour to clean it. Removing and returning the evaporator takes longer.
After all is said and done, we tested the air conditioning system of the car. The flow of the air coming out of the vents are much more stronger now at the front and at the back and it’s much cooler now.
Thanks to Joseph, our mechanic, our car is ready to take on this summer heat. Next project: replacing the tints.
