I would like to do my part in saving our Living planet Earth. So instead of throwing away our used tires I thought about re-using them. There are a lot of things you can do with old tires try to Google them out and you will see. All it takes is a little imagination and creativity and you will be on your way.
All together I have 4 tires on hand. I was thinking about creating a set of table and chairs with them for our rooftop but I don’t have the necessary carpentry skill and I don’t want to spend a lot of money doing a side project like this.
We were eating at Lime and Basil in Tagaytay when I saw this beautiful Bamboo plant. So I thought Why not, I wanted to have something green to cover our window from the heat outside, plants contribute oxygen to the environment and Bamboos are not really hard to take care of.
Preparing the old tires was my first priority. I had on supply a can of leftover paint, some old steel roofing donated by our neighbor and left over steel wiring. First I wanted to put two tires together on top of each other. So I made a hole to fit the steel wires like sewing them together, believe me this was not an easy task. After sometime I manage to put all 4 tires together by two’s. After that I need to put some kind of cover at the bottom to keep the soil from eroding, that’s where I used the old steel roofing from our neighbor. And for the final touch I painted the tires with the left over paint I have to give it color.
Purchasing the plant was little bit harder than what I imagine. I needed to get a healthy plant and of course I am on a budget so I needed something cheap. After searching in Q.C. circle and in Centris Sunday market to no avail, I finally found what I was looking for in Fairview. They have a lot of young Bamboo plants that are healthy and cheap. I purchased 2 plants and some soil.
When the time came to plant the Bamboo I asked the helped of our daughter Ykaie and she gladly obliged (with promise of something in return of course). We first mixed the soil together, I purchased two types of soil one with organic fertilizer and the other one just ordinary soil.

Take a look at us having a good time planting and enjoying some Father Daughter time.
All and all it was a good experience creating something from used already and I was able to teach my Daughter the importance of recycling and planting Threes. Now I just water them twice a day and watch them grow with my Daughter growing up with them.
